Bath Choral Society is an enthusiastic and committed choir of around 90 voices. We sing a wide range of sacred and secular choral music, and together with leading soloists and orchestras, we perform five concerts in and around Bath each year, including two performances of Handel’s Messiah in Bath Abbey every December. In the current season, we presented Handel’s Jephtha in association with Iford Arts, and we look forward to singing Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Durufle’s Requiem in 2018.
Every other year the choir embarks on a tour to perform in one of the great musical cities of Europe; in 2017 we visited Bratislava, and in 2015 we sang three concerts near Paris including a Sunday evening recital in Chartres Cathedral.
David Gostick took over as Musical Director in September 2016. David has extensive experience of choral and operatic repertoire and is also the Musical Director of Portsmouth Choral Union, Bournemouth Sinfonietta Choir, and Wimborne Minster.
We have a diverse membership from Bath and the surrounding area. Younger singers aged 16-25 are actively encouraged to apply for our bursaries to help support vocal and artistic development. We strive to create a friendly and supportive environment in which to make music of the highest possible quality.
